Just as its name says, party appetizers are supposed to increase the appetite. But it doesn’t mean that these appetizers should temp your guests to eat more than what they should. Remember, you won’t give them a favor by serving unhealthy, fatty, and high-calorie foods. But serving them healthier alternatives will be the best.

 

Why don’t you start it by serving them the healthier but even more delicious party appetizers like the ones below:

 

Bruschetta. This appetizer is traditionally made with thin toasted bread, rubbed with butter and garlic, then topped with tomato or basil. But instead of the usual bread, you may opt for the multigrain baguettes. Have these sliced thinly and add low-fat butter instead of the usual butter. Top it with anything you want, bake, and serve.

 

Salsa. This Mexican delicacy is not only hot but healthy. You may use the premade preserved salsa mix or you can make it yourself. Basic ingredients include chilies and tomatoes. Spread the salsa on whole-grain crackers or chips and serve.

 

Shrimp cocktail. This is one of the healthiest party appetizers because it only has 10 calories and no fat per serving. Plus, every shrimp has a gram of protein that makes you feel fuller for longer hours. Simply steam skinned shrimps. Keep the tail as that will serve for handing. Make your own sauce, which can be the usual catsup or a low-fat mayonnaise.

 

Popcorn. This is one of the healthiest crunchy foods out there. Use the whole grain pop corn. Cook it just like how you would cook the usual popcorn. After popping, sprinkle it with blak pepper, cheese, and oregano. That will taste deliciously good and healthy, too.

 

The usual party appetizers are high-calorie and fatty. But the example appetizers above prove that it delicious starters doesn’t need to have high calories.
